KRISTEN MICKEY
Kristen D. Mickey joined the firm in 1995 and enjoys a general practice with emphasis in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, workers compensation, family law, criminal defense and juvenile matters. Our clients benefit from the broad range of experience Mr. Mickey brings to the firm, including his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming, his legal research and writing skills that earned publication in the Washburn Law Journal ("Contract Law: Denying Recovery Under a Theory of Quantum Meruit: Cracking Down on an Unlicensed Engineering Firm," 33 Washburn Law Journal 224 (1993), and oral advocacy skills from his experience on the Washburn Moot Court team. Mr. Mickey graduated with honors from Washburn University School of Law in 1994. He previously served as a Junior Reporter in the Kansas Appellate Courts (1992-1994), and as law clerk to the Honorable Tyler C. Lockett on the Kansas Supreme Court (1994-1995). He is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Nebraska.
After returning home to the North Platte Valley, Mr. Mickey became involved in the Young Lawyers Section of the Nebraska Bar Association, where he served as the Western Regional Representative (1997-2001) and Vice-President of the Executive Committee. He currently maintains memberships in the Scotts Bluff County Bar Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, American Bar Association and Nebraska Defense Counsel. Mr. Mickey previously served as a deputy county attorney for Banner County, Nebraska, and special prosecutor for Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.
Mr. Mickey and his wife have four children. He serves as a director at Summit Christian College, and is a trustee/director of his local church congregation. He enjoys active participation in various community activities, including the Scottsbluff-Gering Noon Lions Club (President 2004-2005), 23 Club Baseball, AYSO soccer, and YMCA youth sports. Mr. Mickey previously served as a director for the Monument Valley Pathways, in various YMCA fund raising activities, as a volunteer for the United Way of Western Nebraska, on the Westmoor Elementary School Site Council, and SPS Strategic Planning Committee.
